Heritage of Our Town

The Heritage Canada Foundation is proud to present Heritage 2003: The Heritage Of Our Town, featuring Canada’s historic civic architecture and sites.  Every community has familiar landmarks, such as the city hall, library, arena, courthouse, squares and fairground buildings.  In towns and cities across Canada, many of these buildings and places are heritage sites that define and give character to the community.

The Heritage Of Our Town education kit is available from the Heritage Canada Foundation and consists of a colour poster, together with a bilingual teacher’s guide dedicated to the 2003 theme.  Kits are available for online ordering at www.heritagecanada.org.

Heritage Day will be celebrated on Monday, February 17, 2003.  Many communities will also celebrate Heritage Week and Heritage Month.

The Heritage Canada Foundation, also known as Heritage Canada, is a registered charity and national membership based organization dedicated to understanding, protecting and using wisely the heritage architecture and historic places of Canada.  Since 1973 Heritage Canada has bestowed awards on Canadians for outstanding contributions to heritage conservation, and helped to sensitize youth about their work as stewards of our heritage.
