National Historic Sites of Canada Cost-Sharing Program. This federal program provides grants for up to 50% of the eligible costs incurred in the conservation and presentation of a national historic site. Recipients must be other levels of government or not-for-profit organizations. From 2009 to 2011 it had a budget of $8 million, representing only a very small portion of the overall demand. Applications received sought a total of $53 million in federal funding and would have leveraged an impressive $280 million in construction investment.
