Provincial

Property rights are the jurisdiction of provinces and territories. The past decade has seen an uneven scaling back of funding for heritage property stewardship and rehabilitation. Some provinces, like Ontario, are more focused on providing assistance through municipal governments; however, the majority have provincial-level funding incentive programs.

Granting programs, whether administered at the provincial or municipal levels, are supported by provincial funding with the exception of British Columbia`s Heritage Legacy Fund, which was set up with a provincial endowment that is expected to self-sustain through donations.
