There is Still Time to Make a Nomination! 

With less than two weeks left to submit a nomination to Heritage Canada The National Trust’s National Heritage Leadership Awards, we thought you would like to read about our stellar panel of jurors, whose wealth of experience comes from a range of backgrounds in the heritage conservation sector. 

David B. Flemming, Heritage Consultant, Ottawa, Ontario 
For the past 45 years, David has worked in the museum and heritage field while volunteering his expertise on boards of numerous national and provincial organizations. His career has included work with Parks Canada, Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, and the City of Ottawa. David is a Fellow of the Royal Nova Scotia Historical Society, recipient of 2004 Ontario Museum Association Award of Merit, 2010 City of Ottawa Distinguished Civic Award and 2012 Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal.
Susan Bronson, Architect and Heritage Consultant, Montreal, Quebec
Susan is a registered architect with expertise in heritage conservation, urban history and conservation history and theory. She has worked in private practice and the public sector and has many years of teaching experience, in particular at the Université de Montréal and McGill University. She has served on the board of APT and Montreal-based heritage organizations. Susan is the 2010 recipient of the Gabrielle Léger Medal for Lifetime Achievement.
Catherine Hennessey, Heritage Consultant, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island
A tireless advocate for heritage conservation in P.E.I., Catherine has worked for more than 45 years to protect Charlottetown and the Island’s natural and historical distinctiveness. A founder of the Prince Edward Island Heritage Foundation, she served as its executive director for 10 years. She also served on Charlottetown’s Heritage Review Board, City Council, Canadian Design Council and board of Heritage Canada The National Trust. Catherine is the recipient of the 1988 HCNT Lieutenant Governor’s Award and was appointed to the Order of Canada in 2001. 

We invite you to submit a nomination for our juried awards no later than May 2, 2014 in one or both of the following categories:

  • Gabrielle Léger Medal for Lifetime Achievement 
    Named after the wife of former Canadian Governor General Jules Léger, this award recognizes individuals for their outstanding service to the country in the cause of heritage conservation.
  • Lieutenant-Governor’s Award for Heritage Conservation 
    This award recognizes outstanding achievement by an individual, group or corporation in the province in which Heritage Canada The National Trust’s annual conference is held. This year, we are seeking nominations for worthy recipients whose work has benefited the province of Prince Edward Island. 

Recipients will be fêted at a gala ceremony as part of our annual conference in Charlottetown this October.
