YCW in Heritage Organizations

My organization would like to hire a student
I am a student looking for work

YCW in Heritage Organizations is a job creation program under the Youth Employment Strategy (YES) that aims to provide summer work experience students can build on. While employers gain access to a pool of enthusiastic young workers, students gain the opportunity to work in the field of built heritage while earning money for their education. This is a great opportunity for students and employers from coast to coast.

The application period for 2017 is now open. Read our success stories and get inspired for the 2017-2018 program year!

In 2016 YCW in Heritage Organizations created over 70 jobs across the country. Thank you to everyone involved who made it a very successful year.

Student work terms last between 6 and 16 consecutive weeks with a regular work schedule of 30 to 40 hours per week. Salaries are competitive for the region of employment.

YCW may contribute up to 75 percent of the student's employment costs (wages, benefits and other eligible expenditures). The maximum YCW contribution is $8,000 per job.

How to Apply

All students who wish to apply to the Young Canada Works in Heritage Organizations (YCW-HO) program must register with YCW by creating an account at www.youngcanadaworks.gc.ca

Registration allows students to apply electronically for jobs funded through YCW-HO and other YCW programs across Canada. The candidate inventory also provides employers with an online resource to recruit students to staff their YCW positions. Job postings appear on the website on a continual basis as employers receive funding approval. Students should refer back to the website regularly for new summer 2017 postings.

Recruitment and hiring is conducted by organizations that have obtained YCW-HO summer job funding. The National Trust does not participate in the recruitment process.

Only students who meet the program’s eligibility criteria will be considered.
