New Additions to Board of Governors

Business Lawyer and Chartered Accountant Join Heritage Canada The National Trust Board of Governors
 
Ottawa, Ontario, December 6, 2013 - Heritage Canada The National Trust is pleased to announce important additions to its board of governors: Bruce McNiven of Quebec and David Hood of Newfoundland and Labrador.   
 
A lawyer with Heenan Blaikie in Montreal since 1981, Bruce McNiven has broad and varied experience practicing business law, including corporate not-for-profit governance matters. Active in heritage real estate and a wide range of community and national not-for-profit organizations, Bruce has a passionate belief in the importance of the visual and material continuity provided by Canada’s built heritage. He is a Trustee of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, a member of the board of Heritage Montreal Foundation, and President of the Drummond Foundation.  
 
David Hood is a St. John’s based partner with Grant Thornton LLP. As a chartered accountant in public practice David has a large number of privately held business clients, not-for-profits, and registered charities. He is currently vice-chair of the Association of Heritage Industries of Newfoundland, sits on the executive of the Newfoundland & Labrador Chapter of the Institute of Corporate Directors, and the board of the nationally acclaimed theatre company, Artistic Fraud of Newfoundland. David is past president of the Newfoundland Historic Trust and past board member of the Heritage Foundation of Newfoundland & Labrador. David has a keen interest in corporate governance and has completed his ICD.D designation.
 
Helen Edwards of British Columbia and Mark Johnston of the Yukon return to the board for a second term. Ross Keith of Saskatchewan was re-elected for a second one-year term as chair. Ross is president of Nicor Group, a Regina real estate development company which has successfully developed many heritage properties in Regina.
