Ottawa, ON – March 28, 2013 –Heritage Canada Foundation (HCF) proudly announces 40 years as the National Trust for Canada. Founded on this day in 1973, HCF is the only national organization working to protect Canada’s historic places for future generations.
To mark the occasion, HCF is launching Top 40 Friends of Heritage, an opportunity for people all across the country who love their local heritage to nominate an unsung heritage hero in their neighbourhood, town or city who is committed to helping protect places that matter. From iconic lighthouses and grain elevators to neighbourhood revitalization, saving local schools, places of worship, and heritage homes, conservation is about people. Nominate someone and both your names will be entered into a draw to win prizes!
HCF staff has also been sorting through the archives to capture some of the organization’s many accomplishments over the past four decades. Follow HCF on Facebook and Twitter as it reminisces and celebrates the events and people that have contributed to 40 years of conservation in Canada.
HCF would also like to share places of importance to Canadians. Upload a photo and its location by joining HCF’s Places that Matter Flickr group, and share!
