HCF Welcomes Alison Faulknor as Director of New Initiatives

Ottawa, ON, May 10, 2013 – Heritage Canada Foundation (HCF) is pleased to announce that Alison Faulknor has joined the organization as Director of New Initiatives. Alison will take the lead in securing funds and partnerships for new HCF programs by making strategic connections with clients, funders, sponsors and donors. New initiatives on our priority list include a Community Regeneration Program that builds on HCF’s Main Street and Heritage Regions program, and conservation partnerships that rehabilitate heritage property while also meeting other social needs.

Alison has over ten years of experience working the non-profit sector. Most recently, she served as Director of Programs at the Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences, where she was in charge of program and partnership development. For four years, she oversaw the organization of the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences, a conference that brings together between 6,000 to 9,000 scholars and students annually.

Prior to the Federation, Alison served as the Managing Director and Acting Director of the Dominion Institute (now Historica-Dominion Institute). She led in the growth of the organization, building programs, raising funds and managing operations. She now sits on the Historica-Dominion Institute board of governors.

Alison obtained her Masters in Museum Studies from the University of Toronto and her Honours Degree in Art History from McMaster University. In her early career, she worked for the McMichael Canadian Art Collection and the Art Gallery of Hamilton.
