HCF Saddened by Passing of Carlos Ventin - Recipient of 2013 Governors’ Award

Ottawa, ON October 2, 2013 – It is with deep regret that the Heritage Canada Foundation (HCF) announces the passing of Carlos Ventin, the recent recipient of its esteemed Governors’ Award for extraordinary achievement in heritage conservation.

His long and distinguished career as an architect with C.A. Ventin Architect Ltd. was marked by his knowledge, emphasis on detail, aspiration for innovation and endless passion. He will be remembered for his persuasive personality and ability to engage all those involved in his many projects—from community groups to decision makers.

The Governors’ Award honours Carlos Ventin’s range of accomplishments in conserving and adapting dozens of historic buildings and sites to ensure their future viability, thereby boosting the cause of conservation in Ontario.

Created in 2008, the Governors’ Award is granted upon the instigation of the chair of HCF’s board of governors. Board members were unanimous in their decision to support this worthy recognition.

Mr. Ventin passed away quietly on September 25. His contribution to heritage conservation will be recognized during HCF’s National Awards Ceremony, November 1, 2013, in Ottawa.
