HCF Releases Discussion Paper for the National Heritage Summit 2012

Toward a New Vision for the Heritage Movement: What’s Working;

What’s Not; What Needs to Change

Ottawa, ON October 2, 2012 – In advance of a National Heritage Summit in Montreal next week, the Heritage Canada Foundation (HCF) today released a Discussion Paper, Toward a New Vision for the Heritage Movement: What’s Working; What’s Not; What Needs to Change, that reviews the state of heritage conservation in Canada and posits new ideas designed to generate discussion about new strategic priorities for the heritage movement.

“With this Discussion Paper—and the upcoming National Heritage Summit—HCF is responding to new pressures that have been mounting on existing heritage policies and programs,” said executive director Natalie Bull. “We see it as an opportunity to take stock—hit the reset button—and re-conceptualize a new way of delivering heritage protection.”

HCF invites feedback on its Discussion Paper by emailing heritagecanada@heritagecanada.org.

To participate directly in the discussion and debate, register for HCF’s National Heritage Summit, which will be held October 11-13 in Montreal. Online registration ends October 5 at 10:00 a.m. Be there, pitch in, and take action!
