Ottawa, ON, February 7, 2012 — The Heritage Canada Foundation congratulates Richard Bégin, member of its board of governors, who was awarded the Médaille de l’Assemblée nationale on February 3 for his devotion and unwavering commitment to heritage conservation during the past 30 years.
Mr. Bégin was recognized for the immeasurable time, energy and passion he has devoted to preserving Québec’s history and heritage, and for his effort to reach beyond the borders of the province through his participation in the Congrès sur l’Amérique française. His dedication was evident to the National Assembly of Québec through his participation as president of a number of organizations, including the Fédération Histoire Québec (FHQ), the Conseil régional de la culture de l’Outaouais (CRCO), the Association des professionnels, industriels et commerçants d’Aylmer (APICA), the Aylmer Heritage Association and Symmes Inn Museum.
The City of Gatineau recently awarded Mr. Bégin its highest distinction, the Ordre de Gatineau, in recognition of his involvement with the community and local businesses, and above all, the built heritage of that region of Québec.
The Médaille de l'Assemblée nationale was presented by Charlotte L'Écuyer, member of the National Assembly of Québec (MNA) for the riding of Pontiac.
