Ottawa, ON March 6, 2013 – The Heritage Canada Foundation (HCF) congratulates the Annapolis Heritage Society (AHS) on receiving a Heritage Trust of Nova Scotia Built Heritage Award for excellence in the conservation of the historic Sinclair Inn Museum.
The conservation project was partly funded by HCF through the Runciman Endowment Fund for Heritage Conservation. Exceptional restoration work to a number of exterior elements included painstaking rehabilitation of many of the structure’s original wooden windows. Comprised of two conjoined houses dating from 1710-11, the Sinclair Inn Museum is a designated Provincial Heritage Site and National Historic Site, and remains one of the oldest wood frame structures in Canada.
The award was presented during a ceremony held at Province House, Halifax on February 22, 2013.
Sinclair Inn Museum is owned by the Annapolis Heritage Society, a participant in HCF’s Partner Site Program, a network of sites across the country that HCF members can visit free of charge. For more information about HCF’s partner sites, visit www.heritagecanada.org.
