Ottawa, ON – January 16, 2013 – The Heritage Canada Foundation (HCF) congratulates Dr. Harold D. Kalman of Vancouver—a former member of HCF’s board of governors—on his appointment as a member of the Order of Canada, recently announced by His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada.
The Order of Canada recognizes a lifetime of outstanding achievement, dedication to community and service to the nation. Harold Kalman has been appointed for “his contributions to the preservation of Canada’s built heritage, as an architectural historian, practitioner and author.” Dr. Kalman is a co-founder and principal at Commonwealth Historic Resource Management Ltd. His expertise, extensive knowledge and passion for the field of conservation in Canada and internationally proved an asset to the Heritage Canada Foundation’s board of governors, where he served as representative from British Columbia from 2000 to 2004. In 2009 HCF awarded Dr. Kalman the Gabrielle Léger Award for lifetime achievement in heritage conservation.
